Science Olympiad competes at Wichita regional tournament

On Saturday, Feb. 22, our Science Olympiad team competed in the Wichita Regional tournament at Andover Central High School. Our students from Santa Fe and Chisholm worked very hard and earned many awards in events and overall as a team. We are so proud to have our Science Olympians representing our schools and Newton in such a positive way!

Regional (A) Team Results

Our Chisholm Middle School Regional Team placed 6th overall out of 13 teams!
Here are our top event placements:

  • Jenna Kopper and Chelsea Sanchez - 2nd in Disease Detectives and 4th in Anatomy and Physiology

  • Philip Tieszen and Daphne Masem - 4th in Fossils

  • Daphne Masem and Grant Flaherty - 3rd in Wind Power

  • Philip Tieszen - 2nd in Metric Mastery

  • Shay Huddleston and Ava Connor - 2nd in Microbe Mission, 4th in Crime Busters and 5th in Potions and Poisons

  • Sam Menninga and Charlie Regier - 2nd in Helicopter and 4th in Meteorology

  • Sophia Goerzen and Malik Lopez - 5th in Dynamic Planet

  • Grant Flaherty and Andrew Zhuang - 4th in Tower

Invitational (B) Team Results

Our Chisholm Middle School Invitational Team placed 3rd overall out of 9 teams!
